RE-VAMP

We’re in the midst of a re-vamp here at 802. We’ll get back at you later when the concept has come to fruition.

Warhol Won

I’m re-writing this post because I’ve refined the concept that I was trying to convey in a previous post…

Laurie Anderson recently gave a lecture on Andy Warhol at the Smithsonian Museum. She gave a brief magazine INTERVIEW in which she articulates a concept that I’ve been trying to put in words for a long time and the condensation of which is the title of this post Warhol Won. She says “we live in Andy’s World” which is my thought also. I used to be upset because the more we live in Andy’s World the less we live in the one I perceived that I wanted to live in as a young man. A world in which art and culture ruled, intelligence was respected, and depth of thought mattered. I realize now I don’t have a choice. Warhol Won. Which is not so bad I suppose, art and culture rule it’s just POP ART and POP CULTURE. I always thought that would mean something different than it does but so what. In ANDY”S WORLD The most important thing in our world now is to be famous or so say Kids in the UK. In general most people want fame more than anything yet they don’t even know what they want to be famous for… Neat huh! This obscuring of reality is quite weird, but exactly the tabloid, egotistical, sex obsessed, violence prone, world Andy Warhol both predicted and created.
So now I can be at terms with living in Andy’s World. I’m Ok with it. I realize that other people being shallow, and superficial is just part of the grand scheme of things. My teen aged quest to inflict my artistic influence on the world will have to be filtered through Andy’s World. But I knew that, I just was resisting. Now things will go easier for me as an artist, I have the criteria, the gestalt, and I’ll look so good doing it! SO THERE! The following is a “Web Version” ( excerpt) of my video remake of Andy’s Screen Tests.

Unmoving Pictures

I got a new still camera. It’s a Canon EOS 5d. It’s a SLR digital with a capture chip the same size as a 35mm film frame. Here’s a picture I took of some unfortunate ex-wildlife in my backyard.
