FCMOCA/2008 Rocky Mountian Biennial

My video “Big Idea #4″ has been selected for exhibition in the Rocky Mountian Biennial at the Fort Collins Muesum of Contemporary Art. The exhibit was juried by the Denver weekly WESTWORD’s Art Critic Michael Paglia. The show opens in October so I’ll update the info as we get closer. Here’s a still from it…

I'M NUMBER TWO! I'M NUMBER TWO! I'M NUMBER TWO!

Unbeknownst to myself, The afore mentioned RUCKUS REPEAT RUCKUS: Visual Noise art exhibit opening had a celebrity host, Ms. Amy Sedaris. Also unbeknownst to me was that there was a competition among the artists involved with cash awards. Imagine my surprise when I noticed that there was some type of presentation going on in the Gallery area of the “POOP DECK” ( yes, that’s what they, THE LAB, call this area of the gallery space that opens on a lovely deck one story above the a courtyard area of BELMAR) while I was outside on the deck enjoying a free drink from the sponsor and a having nice chat with some of the other artists, when upon entering heard Ms. Sedaris asking which of the three winners of the cash prizes should she announce first… NUMBER TWO the crowd yelled back… OK I LIKE THIS CROWD she said… the number two winner is… ATOMIC ELROY for SHOOT! After a little banter by Ms. Sedaris I made my way to the front of the room and accepted the award. It was quite a shock! She handed me the mic, and I made a brief explanation of the work. Pretty cool when stuff like this hits you unexpectedly.

p.s. this post contains the longest run on sentence I’ve ever written.

My video SHOOT was chosen for inclusion in RUCKUS REPEAT RUCKUS: Visual Noise On exhibition at THE LAB@BELAMR in Denver. Here’s the flyer with the info.

Cornerstone Arts Building

CAN’T WAIT…
I deliberately didn’t go to the Hard Hat or other tours of the new Colorado College Cornerstone Arts building, just so I could go today to the first art opening. YIPPIE! The exhibit opening is titled PHYLUM. Here’s the press release at PeakRadar.com and Mark Arnest’s preview puff in the GAZETTE. The work is a The video installation by artists Lane Hall and Lisa Moline, and it sounds, daft mate! Congrats to Curator, Jessica Hunter Larsen, The artists, and everyone else at CC who made this happen.

UPDATE: Went to opening, the building was fabulous! made a video. The PHYLUM piece was fantastic! A must see!
